deviantArt members as cyberbullies

Mon Nov 9, 2009, 8:58 AM
  • Mood: Disbelief
  • Drinking: coffee
EDIT: See bottom...

I am sure most of you are eminently familiar with this on one or more levels...

...and it should come as no great surprise that this site, like so many others on the internet, is chock full of cyberbullies, trolls, flame baiters and mental infants (the forum of this site is overrun with them, whom the deviantArt staff give full and free reign to troll as they wish to, because their trolling is apparently "not serious enough to warrant action"). While there are certainly adults in that mix, most of them clearly are preteens, teenagers and young adults.

I am dealing with a few of these mental infants lately. All over my policy of requiring people to comment on deviations of mine that they fave. And you know, I can totally understand that there are people who don't like that policy, and think that I'm being completely unreasonable. Where they clearly violate the boundaries of sanity and decency is when they turn to that flame baiting, trolling, and infantile cyberbullying and trolling just to "get back" at me, or "teach" me "a lesson" in what they actually have the unmitigated GALL to call "maturity". :sarcasm:

Now, I would loooooove to identify the particular brats involved. I really would. That seems to be how it's done here on deviantArt. Someone pisses you off, or pesters you, or offends you, or amuses you, it is a free invitation to call them out, point them out to others, and relentlessly insult and harrass them. But you see, I actually have a conscience, and I actually DO have the maturity and civility to be far above that.

What's ironic, frustrating, perplexing and, strangely amusing (as well as sad and demented) is the inexplicable, twisted logic these trolls use to justify their attacks (these are taken from actual statements made in my recent problems with these little brats...the identities will remain hidden, of course, but anyone who knows anything about this will know precisely whom I am talking about, and certainly would agree with me):

"Kid doesn't know how to SHUT UP."

"Why exactly are you commenting? Nobody here gives a shit."

"Holy shit. Holy fucking shit. Excuse me while I piss myself laughing."

"You really must have no life."

"Takes two to tango, sweetcheeks." (My reply to this one elicited a charge of "sexual harrassment", which was completely ridiculous and without merit, as this person never revealed its identity...and even though the comment above certainly qualifies as sexual harrassment ).

"I doubt it. I'll get the last word."

I could go on (A LOT), but you get the idea. You've all seen stuff like it before...on this site and elsewhere. Fortunately, the comments of one of the aforementioned little brats have been so hidden on the profile page of a watcher and friend of mine here, who was an innocent party here, that the infant's trolling has now been completely nullified there. Which will surely piss it off no end when it sees what has become of its comments. (I feel very bad for that innocent party, and told her so in a comment on her profile. SHE didn't deserve to be saddled with any of that.) Two of these sick little babies actually tried to draw others in, and identified THEM in their rants and flame baits too...and again, had the temerity to claim that I was the bad guy which apparently resulted in their having to name them. :upset: I know, I know...it can give you a brain hemmorhage just trying to make sense of such behavior and the perpetrators themselves (which, of course, is impossible).

It just amazes and boggles the mind that these trolls can actually claim to have higher moral ground, and will keep at you, and then try to infuriate you more by claiming that you ought to stop instead of "acting like a child". :unimpressed:

What's even more boggling to the mind is that the deviantArt staff seldom, if ever, punishes the guilty party (even when they are reported, which I have done in this case, and for which I am awaiting final disposition). ONE of the current brats is actually pretending to be two people, with two separate accounts which are actually watching and being friends with each other. lol Amazing, isn't it? Again, sad and demented surely...but amazing nevertheless.

:sarcasticclap:

EDIT: The primary troll involved in this nonsense, whom I believe actually owns the profile where the original journal was posted (which encouraged others to troll and harrass me), just posted the following comment in its profile after further baiting in the aforementioned journal:

"It gets you to shit your pants with raaaaaaaaage."

And then it blocked me there.

Golly, I am so very infuriated. And hey - note the very sophisticated language it used. Isn't that just spiffy keen?

Remember kids: a coward is a coward is a coward. When a coward cannot defend its position, it resorts to tactics just like this. And this kid just proved that indelibly.

I left a comment on one of your Milo photos (it was hard not to comment on every one) but I just can't get over how perfect he looks. He is exactly what I've always wanted in an Aussie, including the well-fitting name :D You're so lucky...

Hey - I like that! Thanks! :)
:iconmischievouspooka:
Sorry, for the inconvenience, but I went back and faved the pictures I faved before but somehow the faves did not stay in my fave section. Most of them I commented on a few days ago. I think my fave gallery glitched and deleted some of my faves.
